I've come a fair way in my quest for squeezing decent video out of an 8MHz 90s8535. If anyone was following my project and might be interested I have just uploaded the working 20 character by 8 line, 9600 baud video terminal program to my web page. Supports basic CR,LF,FF with upper and lowercase character set. Still in PAL 625 line version at present.

We built a lottery BINGO machine with just a 90S1200 which connects to a PAL TV via the SCART connector. It's a long time ago, but I'm sure the design is still out there. Just black and white, using EEPROM for data storage.

If you try it, I recommend porting it to an AT90S2313 to get the SRAM. The EEPROM slows it down a bit. (But the 1200 was all I had back then).

I went back and found the link to the BINGO project. There is also a voltmeter which uses the TV as a display.
