I am getting an error whilst trying to program my ATxmega128a1u with an Atmel ICE debugger via Atmel Studio 7:

"Failed to launch program:

Error: Unexpected signature 0x001E974C (expected 0x001E9742)."

The dev board I am using has always worked in the past. I plugged everything in, clicked debug, then was prompted to update the ICE's firmware so I did. Now I get this error.

The signature it is receiving is correct per the datasheet (0x001E974C), so is it a problem with the firmware version of the ICE not having the correct ID? Or Atmel Studio?

I have tried restarting AS, my computer, uninstalling/re-installing the ICE driver, adjusting the PDI clock speed, etc.

Thank you!

Are you sure that you selected the correct part in Atmel Studio 7?  0x001E9742 is the signature of an ATxmega128A3.

As of January 15, 2018, Site fix-up work has begun! Now do your part and report any bugs or deficiencies here

No guarantees, but if we don't report problems they won't get much of  a chance to be fixed! Details/discussions at link given just above.

Ahh! I feel like an idiot. That was the problem. I have never had to debug that before so I was very confused, thank you!
