hi everyone,

i have a problem reading an avr MCU (atmega8pa) after trying to use the debugWIRE option of the AtmelICE

well, first it worked fine, but after that i've tried to use the debugger everything went wrong and i can't even read the signature of the device !!

i've replace the MCU with a new one and he worked fine but when i try to use the first one an error pops out (attachement) saying :

Unable to enter programming mode.

Please verify device selection, interface settings, target power, security bit, and connections to the target device. Look in the details section for more information.

anyone got a tip on how i can use the first atmega8 again ?

sofware : Atmel Studio 7

programmer : AtmelICE.J41800087013   ISP

MCU : ATmega8PA

When you enter into debug mode with DW, it disables ISP programming.   To restore ISP, you must exit debug mode and disable DW mode when you stop the debugger.

If you did not disable DW when you exited debug mode, you must re-enter debug mode and then exit properly!   Never mess with the DWEN fuse manually.

hi Jim, yeah that's it.

now i can read the signature.

i just confirmed what you sad here http://www.atmel.com/webdoc/atme...

there is one thing i noticed, it is that i could program the MCU even whene DW mode is active which is strange given that i could not read the signature of my MCU, the Clock settings were wrong but still i could pass on my code in the ship using shift+alt+f5.

well thanks for you help, this debugWIRE was such a pain this days.
