Hi

This is my first text on avrfreaks.

I hope this is the right place to ask my question:

i do program atmega128 for years now.

i progam in Bascom, and this compiler creates a .Hex file.

Normaly i send this hex file with avr-studio4 to the atmega128.

now my programmer does not work anymore.

So i bought a new one.. but this one can not be used with avr-studio4

So i installed atmel studio 7.0

Now i can not find how to send the .hex file to the atmega128.

The program can read some info from the atmega128.

So i think, the program and the programmer unit works.

please help me.

It would help to know what, exactly, you bought!

Does its documentation not help you in getting it going with Atmel Studio?

The programmer is:  Olimex AVR-ISP-MK2 (www.olimex.com)

i can not find the information in the help or in the documentation.

problem is: i do not understand most of the typical abbreviations

A link to the actual product page would be more helpful that just the manufacturer's home page!

https://www.olimex.com/Products/AVR/Programmers/AVR-ISP-MK2/open-source-hardware

Did you read the AVR-ISP-MK2 user's manual linked on that page?

Olimex, in the AVR-ISP-MK2 user's manual, wrote:

2.3 Quick setup

The purpose of this sub-chapter is to provide instructions on how to quickly set up AVR-ISP-MK2 under Windows.

The quick setup had been tested under Windows 10 x64 and under Windows 7 x64. The quick setup had been tested with Atmel Studio 7, ...

https://www.olimex.com/Products/AVR/Programmers/AVR-ISP-MK2/resources/AVR-ISP-MK2.pdf

So have you followed those instructions?

If the Olimex instructions for the Olimex product you have purchased don't work, you should contact Olimex!

There is a 'Support' link at the foot of their page...

Also a forum: https://www.olimex.com/forum/

Okay folks,

The solution is:

install the driver for the Olimex , AVR-ISP-MK2 apparatus

start atmel studio 7

use TOOLS

   use DEVICE PROGRAMMING

     choose TOOL:  the AVRISP 2

choose DEVICE: search for atmega128 ( in a long list)

     chose INTERFACE:   search for ISP

use APPLY

    now comes a new menu

        choose: MEMORIES

browse to the .hex file you wish to send to the atmega128

       click now on: PROGRAM

THAT IS IT!   It works like a charm

thanks folks.. i am a happy man
