Hi,

I have here a combination of bootloader and user application that run for a while and then may fail at some point. I want to use the "attach to target" function, to find out where it hangs, but its always grayed out. Is this not supported in UC3?

programmer/debugger: Atmel ICE3

MCU: AT32UC3C1512C

This table says ICE3 is supported for both Debug and Programming with that model of UC3:

UC3s does not support Attaching to a running target... What you can do is launch without erasing (I think UC3 can do that, check the Tool tab in the project settings) and then run until it happens.

The clue is that UC3 has to be reset on debug entry, so attach cannot be done...

aha thanks, so essentially my programmer is capable of attaching, but my MCU is not? well I work with the "debug without erase"-method already, its just not very handy

Yes. The UC3 on-chip debug unit needs a reset. AVR and SAM does not...
