Sometimes while editing a .c file in the Studio 6.2 editor it will freeze for 3 to 5 seconds. It's as if it was doing garbage collection or consolidating some database issue or something. This is a pretty fast  4Ghz  4 core i7 with 4Gb of ram running Win7 64 bits.

Any idea how to fix this? Is there some option that will postpone whatever it's doing to when I'm not actually trying to type code? Thanks.

Hi Greg. I am locking this thread because it illustrates a site problem that the Atmel programmers need to fix. Ross

Fixed it: If you encounter this problem, it seems to get worse as the project gets worked on. I was starting to get 5 to 10 second freezes after typing even one or two words. In the upper left hand corner of the very top bar I'd see "Not Responding," get the little "busy circle" for a few seconds and then start responding again. There are lots Google hits on the problem with all the versions of Visual Studio. Lots of supposed fixes, but this is the only one that worked for me:

On the menu bar select VAssistX/Visual Assist Options That'll open up a dialog box. Select Performance. Then click the Rebuild Symbol databases box and the Clear History, cache, and temporary files box. Then restart Studio. Hope this helps somebody.
