I personally use '='s so:

it makes the non-maxmized view in this forum wider so that code/table layouts are not word-wrapped and ruined.

For example this kind of thing:

That's because the view is already wider than my arms can stretch. Personally I think it's ridiculous. Human eyes find it natural to read text that is about 5"..6" wide which is why almost every novel you will have read is this width. But during the beta/preview of this new freaks it was noted that Atmel had forgotten to implement a "Maximize" view as used by some (wide eyed?) users on the old site. So rather than implement "normal width" and "maximized width" views the simplistic fix was simply to make the width here HUGE. I do hope and pray that in time normality will be restored and there'll be selectable views again and those of us who find 6" columns of text easier to read will be able to avoid the eye strain. But perhaps they'd do black text too - that's probably more important for combatting eye strain first.

 

BTW I was just looking at Studio 6:

 

 

(that picture happened to be on my clipboard). It Atmel wanted to give this site a real "Atmel look and feel" they might consider using the same colour scheme that Studio uses. Black text on that khaki background is quite easy to read ;-)

The problem is not with the overall width - I can simply reduce the width my browser window (I learned to do this quickly after I was forced to use a "modern" wide-angle monitor), and the forum appears to be flexible enough to adjust properly. Would there be an easy way to tell the forum to shrink I would be happier, but can live with the current status.

 

My point is, that the sections tagged CODE *MUST NOT* adjust to window size!

 

I am lazy to submit this to any of the Site Feedback subforum or the "suggestions" wiki - feel free to do that if you want.

That would be good.  Maybe they can give us a choice.  The bright white background is not my favorite.  Ideally I would use a slightly brighter background than Studio khaki.  It would be nice to have a choice if that's possible.  I think this would be a rarity among web sites.

The bright white background isn't my favorite either, but with black plain text, it is adequate.

'Tis the code text I have trouble with.

Its color does seem to be the same as in legacy, but the new font makes it illegible to me.
