Simple overview on Atmel AVR microcontrollers. Can be useful during searching appropriate microcontroller for projects. Also there are hyperlinks for quick access to the Atmel's site. But to open the attached file an application is needed from the following link:

http://www.dropmind.com

It is trial but for viewing files can be used after expired trial period.

This post looks extremely suspicious indeed. The only saving grace is the poster's join date - so it could be on the level. I would, however, exercise extreme caution before attempting to open/use the attached file.

Moderator.

(if anyone is brave enough to install DropMind and then open the file and it turns out to be OK please PM me - but personally I'm not going to risk it).

DropMind is software for "mindmapping" and similar. It might be good for drawing some specific figures for an "Overview of Atmel AVR microcontrollers". I do not think the post above is purposely malicious.

OTOH, if mmladen is more after us seeing his diagram than pushing the DropMind software, he could easily install a free PDF printer and print the DropMind document to a PDF document and post here.

Well see if this was a hidden push for DropMind or not, perhaps..

I have found Dropmind application by chance and after a while I realised that it can be useful for some things. After trial period expired it continue to works with some limitations. So I build a map with links to the Atmel's site. Further I have plan to make another map with examples for quick initialization of timers, uarts, fuses... of AVR microcontrollers. Please find the pdf file attached of the map. For this purposes can be used another mindmap applications like xMind, MindJet or some else.
If you suspect that this is comercial post feel free to remove it from the forum.

Hey could some some one clarify, if this is indeed a useful learning resource, or even safe to check out?

Not IMO. It simply states that there are 6 sub-families of AVRs (Tiny, Mega, XMega, BatteryManagement and UC3) and lists the six series of UC3s and the specific models that go into them (model names only, no other specifics). Since it is now more than 6 months since it was posted it might also be incomplete.

Have a good anti-viral system installed and keep it well updated.

No guarantees at all but I opened the PDF version attached above, and all seems well.

As I hint about above, don't have your expectations too high, though.
