Try using avrdude.exe and the -O option. Or just go back o a copy of AS4 and lift stk500.exe from it.

Try connecting a bd to teraterm on a pc, power up the 1284... see a garbage char out the uart? If so, do you read the UDR to clear the char ready flag BEFORE...
