If you divide a uint16_t (0.. 65535) by 100.0 there is no way the result can be 109541112So clearly that is not the value held in the float after the division...

Stroustrup has a chapter "Design and Development" in his TCPL that you might find interesting.  I sure do.  It is not specific to C++.
