As cliff noted maybe look at the JTAGICE3, Dragon, or the new offering that Atmel has and I cannot remember the name.

Gchapman - i hadn't heard of the wrtnode. The Carambola has 64MB ram which is quite useful along with 16MB flash that gives you a bit of space to load some...

This is probably why the folks at Sparkfun have designed some of their pin header footprints for eagle to have larger holes, but be staggered a "smiggin" so...

So if your hardware is lame and can't put out 16 bits in two cycles, SPI is faster. How can that be? Even at X2 speed the SPI can only send out a byte in 16...
